Three years ago, I could not have imagined myself in Karamoja, one of the most challenging regions in Uganda. Known for its extreme poverty, harsh climate, high illiteracy rates, and cultural hostilities, Karamoja was never part of my plans. However, God led me there with a purpose.
Adjusting to life in Karamoja was difficult. The first two years were filled with fear—nights echoed with gunfire from cattle raiders, and hostility among the people made ministry daunting. Yet, I relied entirely on God, whose presence gave me courage, direction, and a renewed purpose. I soon realized the deep spiritual need of the people, especially the younger generation.
I started a discipleship program for children, helping them understand Christ personally. Karamoja is predominantly Catholic, and many people lack a deep relationship with God. Cultural practices like rape, child neglect, drunkenness, and early marriages persist due to the absence of biblical guidance. Seeing this, I committed to introducing the transformative power of the gospel to the youth.
The Birth of Enamor of Peace & Hope-Africa (EPH-AFRICA)
While working as a teacher at Lokupoi Primary School in Napak-Moroto District, I was reminded of my own struggles as a child. I saw students battling the same challenges I had faced—education was a luxury, with many dropping out due to financial constraints, long distances, and cultural influences. Most children in Karamoja complete Grade Seven at 16–21 years, far older than in other parts of Uganda. Sadly, many cannot afford to continue to secondary school, leading them into child labor, early marriages, or cattle herding.
Moved by this reality, my friends and I founded Enamor of Peace & Hope-Africa (EPH-AFRICA) to provide hope through evangelism, discipleship, education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and child protection programs. Our vision is to build self-reliant communities with a secure, poverty-free mindset by transforming young lives through Christ-centered initiatives.
Our Mission & Impact
- Child Evangelism & Discipleship – We believe true transformation starts in the heart. By focusing on the spiritual growth of children and youth, we aim to build a generation that trusts God and respects one another.
- Christian Education – Our goal is to provide a holistic education for children from baby class (4 years) to Grade Two (9 years), laying a foundation of faith and knowledge.
- Youth Empowerment – We engage young people in income-generating activities like irrigation farming, soap-making, and baking, helping them become self-sufficient.
- Child Protection & Safe Environments – We create a trauma-free space where children receive counseling, mentorship, and guidance. We have intervened in cases of rape and suicide attempts, offering hope and healing through God’s word.
- Economic Growth & Healthcare Support – We equip families with skills and resources for sustainable livelihoods while addressing medical and nutritional needs.
Growing the Ministry
What started as a small initiative has blossomed into a thriving movement. Our first children’s church began with just 17 children, but today, we reach 461 children across three locations. Many of these children now read the Bible for themselves, deepening their faith and transforming their communities.
